First in Sarawak to Win Two Prestigious Road Safety Awards

Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd took home two top accolades at a special road safety awards ceremony held in conjunction with the Conference on Asia Road Safety 2024 (CARS) in Putrajaya recently.

The company clinched the first place and the first runner-up in two categories at the award ceremony, namely the Best Employer Award for Work-Related Road Safety Management 2023 and the Best Employer Award for Commuting Safety Management 2023, respectively.

Trienekens also emerged as the first company from Sarawak to receive these prestigious honours in both categories. This accomplishment underscored the company’s unwavering commitment to road safety and set a benchmark for safety excellence in the region.

The conference, themed “Safer Journey, Sustainable Future,” was jointly organised by Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (PERKESO) and the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), drawing over 1,000 participants from across Asia. The exclusive road safety awards were dedicated to recognising and honouring employers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and made significant contributions to promoting road safety in their workplaces.

Trienekens Group Chief Executive Officer Stephen Chin expressed the company’s gratitude in achieving the milestone. “We are deeply honoured to receive these esteemed awards, which recognised our continuous efforts to keep our employees safe, both on and off the road.

“This win is only possible with the hard work of our dedicated teams who have developed various initiatives, programmes, workshops and trainings to enhance safety at our workplace as well as the invaluable guidance and support from the relevant government agencies and authorities in Sarawak. This inspires us to continue upholding the highest safety standards in all our operations. We are grateful to PERKESO and MIROS for acknowledging our work and providing steadfast support over the years,” said Chin.

Present at the ceremony were Trienekens’ General Manager for Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Harris ak Michael Deho, and Division Manager for Logistics and Services, Lee Ghee Seng. Both received the awards from the Minister of Transport Malaysia, YB Loke Siew Fook, PERKESO Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, Mr. Edmund Peck Huang Cheong and MIROS Director General, YBrs.
