Engaging with industries and organisations plays an important role in building greater awareness and understanding of responsible solid waste management, while encouraging practical actions that can help reduce waste and promote more sustainable workplace practices.
Trienekens was honoured to be part of Cahya Mata Cement Sdn. Bhd. (Concrete Operations)’s Waste Wise Day, an annual initiative aimed at fostering greater environmental awareness among its workforce.
Around 50 Cahya Mata employees participated in the session, conducted both on-site and online. The talk was delivered by Trienekens’ Department Manager for Landfill, Julian Gabriel Bain, who introduced participants to the key elements of the Integrated Waste Management System (IWMS) and how waste is managed holistically—from collection and transportation to treatment, resource recovery and safe disposal.
The session also explored practical ways organisations and their employees can take meaningful action to reduce waste, use resources more responsibly and contribute towards creating a more environmentally sustainable workplace.
An interactive quiz rounded off the session, encouraging active participation while reinforcing the key messages shared throughout the programme.
Thank you to Cahya Mata Cement Sdn. Bhd. (Concrete Operations), for the opportunity to contribute to this meaningful initiative. Together, through continued industry engagement, we can advance sustainable waste management for a cleaner, greener and more resilient Sarawak.
