Trienekens’ HSE Month 2025 concluded on a high note with the much-anticipated HSE Day celebration, uniting employees under this year’s powerful theme, “Safety Starts With Me. Every Action Matters.” The message echoed throughout the month-long programme, reinforcing the company’s steadfast commitment to cultivating a workplace where safety is not just a protocol — it is a personal responsibility.
Opening the event, Trienekens Group CEO Stephen Chin set the tone with a resounding reminder of the organisation’s top priority to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every team member. He reiterated the company’s mission of ensuring that each employee begins and ends their workday safely, stressing the importance of making responsible choices that outweigh convenience or cost. “Safety,” he noted, “must be instinctive — a value we carry with us in every task, every decision, every moment.”
The Kuching HSE Day celebration brought together seasoned experts for an engaging series of knowledge-sharing sessions. The first session, led by Datu Khirrudin Drahman, Principal Director of SSL Borneo Sdn Bhd and former Fire Safety Division Director (Putrajaya), explored “Fire Safety in Waste Management & Transportation and Compliance to HAZMAT Protocols.” He shared practical, industry-specific insights tailored to scheduled waste management operations, highlighting the critical need for preparedness in high-risk environments.
The momentum continued with a dynamic session by Tn. Azizul b. Mohd Annuar, Assistant Enforcement Officer from the Road Transport Department, who delved into “Road Regulations and Defensive Driving.” His engaging talk reminded staff of the discipline, vigilance, and responsibility required to stay safe on the road, both on and off duty.
A key highlight of the day came during the HSE Excellence Awards, where Trienekens honoured outstanding individuals, divisions, and sub-contractors for their exemplary contributions to health, safety, and environmental performance throughout the year. Presented across six categories, the awards honoured those who continue to elevate the company’s HSE standards through dedication, innovation, and leadership.
The spirit of HSE Month extended beyond Kuching, as Trienekens’ Bintulu Branch hosted its own HSE Day celebration soon after. Group CEO Stephen Chin was also present, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to cultivating a cohesive and robust safety culture across all operations. The event recognised high-performing individuals from the branch who have set strong examples in upholding HSE best practices.
Congratulations to all award recipients for their exceptional achievements!
Let us continue working together to build a workplace where safety is more than a requirement; it is a shared value embraced across the organisation.
