Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd has signed two memorandums of agreement (MoA) with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak to intensify their collaboration in research and development (R&D) programmes namely studies on solid waste characterisation and leachate treatment process.

The MoA exchange ceremony was held recently at the 12th International UNIMAS STEM Engineering Conference (ENCON2019) and was presented on behalf of UNIMAS by UNIMAS Holdings Sdn Bhd’s Chairman, Datu Dr Hatta bin Solhi and while Trienekens was represented by its Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stephen Chin.

According to Chin, the joint research collaboration will bring forth many benefits to both parties especially in advancing the waste management industry through comprehensive research and sharing of knowledge well as skills.

“We, at Trienekens, are committed to developing our waste management treatment, recovery and disposal methods through R&D and ensuring our operations are carried out in the safest and most sustainable way,” said Chin “Through this collaboration with UNIMAS, we believe we will achieve a common goal that will strengthen our current ties and advance our respective areas of expertise.”

The first MoA will cover the study on solid waste characterization which aims to analyse waste samples and quantify the correlation of waste characterization to waste reduction while the second MoA focuses study on leachate treatment using phycoremediation approaches.
