Trienekens Supports ‘GO BALD’ Campaign
Hair loss is the least physically harmful side effect of cancer treatment. However, it can also be the most traumatic and horrifying experience, especially for children. Following the past two years’ successful “GO BALD” campaigns, the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) is back this year with “GO BALD 2011”, slated to be held this 15 May at The Spring shopping complex.
“GO BALD” aims to support children cancer patients by letting them know that their baldness is just a temporary setback on the road to recovery. The campaign calls for members of the community to collectively shave their heads in a public show of solidarity with cancer patients and their families.
SCCS’s goal this year, beyond raising awareness of childhood cancer and offering moral support, is to raise RM1,500,000 for a brand new SCCS centre that will offer an unprecedented level of care and support for child cancer patients in Sarawak.

In support of the cause, Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd. recently donated more than RM3000 to the campaign. Besides the company’s donation, employees also made personal contributions, while Trienekens’ staff Christo Michael, Geoji Jusua, Sebastian Gagih Ipoi, Doncuster Edward and Punet Siet volunteered to join in the campaign in having their heads shaved come Sunday.
The charitable move was one of the many community activities carried out under Trienekens’ corporate social responsibility event calendar, which above all aims to foster a sense of care and responsibility towards the community by all Trienekens employees.
