Trienekens Holds QHSE Day 2011

Kuching: Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd. recently held its annual Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) day themed “Safe Mind, Safe Acts” for some 150 Trienekens staff, customers and business associates.

One for the album… some of Trienekens’ customers, business associates and staff who attended the event.

A continuation from last year’s QHSE day theme “Safe Start”, the event kept to the projects’ goal of highlighting the importance of safety within an organization, combining interactive and entertaining demonstrations, games and lectures focusing on the significance of safe working habits. Held over two sessions on the same day, the event was organized by Trienekens’ Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) division.

 “Safety, as an integral part of any activity, should be of top priority, be it in our work our lives. In Trienekens, developing a safe mindset starts with commitment from the top management through exemplary behaviour and the provision of resources for continuous training to ensure that safety awareness amongst employees are instilled and practiced. We’re very happy to have representatives from both Shell and the Department of Environment (DOE) join us today to help drive home the message of thinking safely, working safely, as well as conserving our environment,” said Alice Lee, Trienekens’ Director of Operations.

Trienekens’ sub-contractors were also amongst participants who took part in the day’s activities. “We couldn’t hold an event like this without the full support of our contractors,” Lee added, “Ultimately, we’re all dedicated to achieving the goal of no-harm to people, or ‘Goal Zero’ with regards to safety.”

 Organising chairman of the event, Trienekens’ HSE Division Manager, Harris Michael Deho was optimistic that the event would be bigger next year. “This event gives opportunities to participants to interact and exchange ideas with experts in the field. We believe that having a safe mindset translates into safe work practices.”

 Trienekens’ Director of Operations, Alice Lee officiated the event and later presented special awards to Trienekens’ outstanding groups for 2010. Trienekens’ Kuching Integrated Waste Management Park received the “Best Overall Performance in HSE” award for not having any ‘Lost Time Injury’ and for being the group with the lowest incident rate. Meanwhile, Trienekens’ Bintulu Branch was presented with the “Lost Time Injury Free Achievement” award. The awards for “Safe Long-Haul Driving Performance” were presented to Rita ak Jeli, Rosly a/l Jingei and Mohd Ridzuan bin Abdullah.
