Friday, 08/01/2008, Kuching

With effect from 24th January 2008 until 09 February 2008, Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd. will temporarily allocate additional 28 units of 1,100 MGB litre bins, 04 units of 660 MGB litre bins and 07 units of RORO Containers at various “hot-spot” areas in Kuching City in preparation of the upcoming Chinese New Year festival.

Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd. today reminded residents who plan to carry out their spring cleaning in time for the festival to do so as early as possible to avoid any rush and allowing waste collection to be carried out as smoothly and effectively as possible.

“The weeks nearing to the Chinese New Year Day are usually the busiest period as shopping and spring cleaning activities increases. To support the excessive waste due to these activities, Trienekens will be providing additional mobile garbage bins (MGBs) at main commercial centres and selected residential areas. We urge the residents to make use of the containers and ensure cleanliness in their neighbourhoods,” announced Mr. Elvin Wee, the Logistics and Services Manager of Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd. These bins are located at:

DBKU Area: Sunrise Garden, Kpg. Kudei, Poh Kwong Park Commercial Shophouse, Lorong Jambu, Pasar Tamu Satok, Sg. Maong Wet Market

MBKS Area: Everrise Departmental Store (Padungan), Kenyalang Park Food Stalls, Jalan Foochow No.1 (behind the shophouse), KMC Flats, Pending Flats, Choice Daily (Tabuan Laru), Everise BDC and BDC Recycle Centre, Dua Puluh Jln Sherif Masahor, Bintawa Market.

MPP Area: Kota Sentosa (7th. Residents at these areas are reminded to dispose of their waste directly into the bulky bins to avoid over spilling of waste.
For smaller household items, residents can pack the wastes neatly and place it next to their wheel bins outside their homes. They can then contact Trienekens at 082-612300 to inform that it is ready for collection.

Bulky or garden wastes in DBKU area, however, is not collected by Trienekens as the city council carries out their own collection schedule for such wastes. Residents in DBKU areas are may call DBKU’s Hotline at 082-444111 for any arrangements of collection.

Trienekens also appeal for public co-operation to use their wheel bins for wastes disposal and to pack all wastes in proper garbage bags. For additional wastes, which cannot fit into the wheel bin, should also be tied-up in garbage bags (for green wastes such as branches to be cut and tied up neatly) and placed next to the bin. Household residents are urged not to indiscriminately dump their bulky/garden waste at housing back lanes or in nearby thick bushes as such acts are considered illegal dumping.

Mr. Wee mentioned that it is important to keep the waste tightly secured inside a garbage bag and keep the lids closed at all times, especially during rainy season to prevent rain-water from mixing with wastes.

In addition to the provision of extra bins, Trienekens’ waste trucks will be working on double shifts during Chinese New Year Eve (6 February) and the Trienekens’ Hotline 082-612300 operation hours will also be extended from 8.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. on 06 February 2008 to receive enquiries or requests from the public. Any information from the public on excess wastes spotted around Kuching is most welcomed.
