Residents are also encouraged to dispose of their Chinese New Year spring-cleaning as early as possible (preferably 1 week before 8 February) so that Trienekens can optimize its collection services. They can call Trienekens’ Hotline (082-422515) once the wastes are neatly packed and ready for collection.
Mr. Joerg Domroes, the Managing Director of Trienekens Sdn. Bhd., adds, “The responsibility of keeping the city clean during the festival season falls not only the company but on shop owners and public as well. W appeal for their full cooperation to ensure that the city remains clean.”
Residents and traders are advised to use their wheel bins for wastes disposal and to pack all wastes in proper garbage bags. These bags should then be placed next to the bin for quick, easy and clean collection. Green wastes such as branches should be cut and tied up neatly. Household residents are urged not to discriminately dump thier bulky/garden waste at housing back lanesor in nearby thick bushs as such acts are considered illegal dumping.
In view of the rainy season, Trienekens also reminded city residents to keep their wheel bins closed at al times to keep rain water from mixing with the waste.
Meanwhile, wastes at the markets – Gambier, Tamu, 3rd. Mile, 7th. Mile and 10th Mile, Song Kheng Hai (behind Everrise), Petanak, Tabuan Jaya and Kenyalang will be collected up to two times a day with effect from 22 January until 7 February 2005.
In addition to the provision of extra bins, Trienekens’ waste trucks will be working on double shifts during Chinese New Year Eve (7 February). The Trienekens Hotline 082-422515 operation hours will also be extended from 8.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. on 2 and 7 February 2005 (except Saturday and Sunday) to receive complaints.
