Residents are urged to dispose of their Chinese New Year spring-cleaning as early as possible (preferably 2 weeks before 18 February) allowing Trienekens to optimize its collection services.

Trienekens will not collect bulky or garden wastes in DBKU area as the city council will carry out their own collection schedule for such wastes. Residents of DBKU areas are advised to call DBKU’s Hotline at 082-444111 for any arrangements of bulky or garden wastes collection.

For smaller household items, residents are advised to pack the waste neatly and they can place it outside their homes. Subsquently, they are to contact Trienekens (082-422515) to inform that it is ready for collection.

Trienekens also appeal for public co-operation to use their wheel bins for wastes disposal and to pack all wastes in proper garbage bags. For additional wastes, which cannot fit into the wheel bin, should also be tied-up in garbage bags (for green wastes such as branches to be cut and tied up neatly) and placed next to the bin. Household residents are urged not to discriminately dump their bulky/garden waste at housing back lanes or in nearby thick bushes as such acts are considered illegal dumping.

Trienekens’ Logistics and Services Manager, Mr. Elvin Wee mentioned that it is important to keep the waste tightly secured inside a garbage bag and the lids closed at all times, especially during this rainy season to prevent rain-water from mixing with wastes.

Meanwhile, wastes at the markets – Gambier, Tamu, 3rd. Mile, 7th. Mile and 10th Mile, Song Kheng Hai (behind Everrise), Petanak, Tabuan Jaya and Kenyalang will be collected up to two times a day with effect from 4 February until 17 February 2007.

In addition to the provision of extra bins, Trienekens’ waste trucks will be working on double shifts during Chinese New Year Eve (17 February) and the Trienekens Hotline 082-422515 operation hours will also be extended from 8.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. on 17 February 2007 to receive enquiries or requests from the public. Any information from the public on excess wastes spotted around Kuching is most welcomed.
