Congratulations... (from left) James Bilong, Thaddeus Wong and Simon Chow received awards from Director of Human Resources and Administration Alice Lee on behalf of Trienekens Kuching Logistics, Bintulu branch and KIWMP respectively.

Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd. recently held its annual Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) day themed “Safe Start” for some 150 Trienekens staff, customers and business associates.

Keeping with the projects’ goal of highlighting the importance of safety within an organization, the event combined interactive and entertaining demonstrations, games and lectures focusing on the significance of safe working habits. The event was organized by Trienekens’ Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSS) department.

“Safety, as an integral part of any activity, should be of top priority, be it in our work our lives – hence our theme ‘Safe Start’. For any job to have a safe end, it too must have a safe start. We’re very happy to have representatives from both Shell and the Department of Environment (DOE) join us today to help drive home the message of working safely, as well as conserving our environment,” said Elvin Wee, Trienekens’ Senior Operations Manager.

Featured Shell speaker Mr. Matthiews Emban gave a presentation entitled “Safe Journey Management: Transportation Safety” while DOE representative Ms Norina Frederick presented a talk on environmental regulations and enforcement.

Trienekens’ sub-contractors were also amongst participants who took part in the day’s activities. “We couldn’t hold an event like this without the full support of our contractors,” Wee added, “They’re as dedicated as we are to the idea of ‘Everyone goes home safe Every Day’.”

Organising chairman of the event, Trienekens’ QHSS Department Manager Harris Michael ak. Deho was optimistic that the event would be bigger next year. “HSE Day gives opportunities to participants to interact and exchange ideas with experts in the field. The importance of HSE in the workplace cannot be stressed enough – in Trienekens, our tools and best practices make it part and parcel of our work culture.”

This is our commitment as a responsible company to our staff, contractors and the communities we operate in,” he stressed.
