Trienekens Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd. celebrated its 10th year anniversary last night at a leading hotel in the city centre
Attended by 250 guests comprising of customers and members of the media, the grand celebration dinner focused on the company’s historical transformation of the solid waste management system in the State with the introduction of the ISWMS in 1999, one of its kind modern system of managing solid wastes in the country.
As part of its corporate social responsibility and commitment, the company presented cheque donations to the Kuching Autistic Association, Kidney Association of Sarawak and PIBAKAT amounting RM10,000.00 respectively at the dinner. Present to hand over the cheque were the company’s Board of Directors led by Trienekens Chairman Mr. Jurgen Pickenhagen, Managing Partner, Mr. Gerhard Aulbert and Mr. Joachim Domroes, the Chief Executive Partner of Trienekens GmbH, Germany.

The cheque presentation was witnessed by the Guest of Honour Minister of Environment and Public Health, YB Dato’ Sri Wong Soon Koh.
In his welcoming speech, Trienekens Shareholder, Mr. Joachim Domroes attributed the successful development and implementation of the integrated solid waste management system to the strong support and commitment provided by the State Government to ensure healthy and sustainable environment through proper management of solid waste using modern approaches and technologies of collecting, transporting and disposing of wastes.
Close cooperation with the local councils namely Kuching North City Council (DBKU), Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) over the past ten years played a major role in enhancing the smooth operation of the integrated system. The system is also successful due to the full support and receptiveness of the general public to improve ways of handling today’s modern wastes which includes usage of standardized bins and disposing their wastes accordingly without polluting the environment.
“As an environmental service provider, we cannot easily rest on our laurels with our success but we must continue to work harder and constantly seek ways to ensure that our services meet the expectations of the councils, our customers and general public.

Trienekens started operating the ISWMS in 1999 as a result of a joint venture agreement between the State Government of Sarawak and Trienekens GmbH, Germany. With the ISWMS concession holder Sarawak Wastes Management (SWM) Sdn. Bhd., Trienekens is responsible for the collection and transportation of all types of wastes, including scheduled wastes. Trienekens also operates the modern 112 hectare Kuching Integrated Wastes Management Park (KIWMP) in Mambong which is designed to cater and dispose of the wastes. It mainly comprises of a sanitary landfill, a secure landfill, a leachate water treatment plant and a scheduled waste incineration plant.
