Trienekens Adds Colour to City Parade Celebrations

BRIGHT AND GREEN...The Trienekens' contingent making its way through the city streets during the parade.

Kuching – The annual Kuching City Festival which kicked off on August 1 was marked by the colourful and vibrant City Day Parade held last Saturday at the Padang Merdeka.

Adding colour to the parade line-up was Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd.’s group of 75 staff consisting supervisors, drivers and loaders. The group came in high spirits in their bright green uniform and accompanied by the company mascots, the green wheel bins and compactor truck, which attracted many of the city dwellers and tourists alike, who came in throng to witness the grand affair.

The team also presented a special performance as part of the parade’s programme.

This year’s event was jointly organised by the Kuching City North Hall and Kuching South City Council. More than 2,500 people in colourful attires and props in 43 contingents made up the parade, representing government departments and agencies, companies, non-governmental organizations, schools and higher learning institutions in the City including a contingent from Sabah.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang was present at the event along with Assistant Minister of Environment, Dr. Abang Abdul Rauf Abang Zen, MBKS’ acting Mayor Mohd Amin Hassan and Kuching North City commissioner Abang Mohd. Atei Abang Medaan.

According to the organizers, this year’s parade was entered into the Malaysia Book of Records under the “Most People Tandak Melayu Sarawak” catergory with the participation of 2,751 dancers including Trienekens’ staff.

Trienekens is proud to be part of this great event this year as a show of strong support to the City and carrying out its role in making the city a clean, healthy and beautiful place to reside in.
