SWM & Trienekens Opens New Head Office and Logistics Depot

Kuching :- Sarawak Wastes Management (SWM) Sdn.Bhd., together with its operating company Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd. today held the official opening ceremony of its new Head Office and Depot located at Sungai Tapang, Kuching.

Officiated by the Minister of Environment and Public Health, YB Datuk Michael Manyin who represented the Chief Minister of Sarawak, YAB Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud said that the new building and depot are both important facilities in support of the Integrated Solid Waste Management System in Sarawak (ISWMS) which also includes the operation of the Kuching Integrated Waste Management Park (KIWMP) in Mambong.

The depot serves to provide important logistical support for the efficient transportation and disposal of waste generated in the City. Costing over RM4 million, the building of the new Head Office and Depot began in 2006.

YAB Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud added that the Kuching residents currently enjoy the highest standard of waste management services whilst the landfills at Mambong are one of the best in the region, complying with the highest standards for the handling of industrial, clinical and other forms of scheduled and hazardous waste.

SYMBOLIC HANDOVER...The Minister handing over a mock key to SWM Director, Mr. Gerhard Aulbert, officiating the opening of the new Head Office and Depot, witnessed by Datu Wilson Baya Dandot, the State Secretary of Sarawak.

The logistical centre boasts several in-house facilities essential to the overall smooth operation of integrated waste management services. Aside from the Head Office, which is the centre for management overseeing the overall business operations such as the collection, transportation and disposal of both municipal and scheduled and hazardous wastes from customers, it is also a logistical centre equipped with truck fleet shade, a maintenance and repair workshop, a wash bay area and a bin collection centre.

“We are honoured to have the new building and depot officially opened by the Minister and equally pleased that the long-awaited Head Office and Depot is finally completed as we now can focus on continually providing good quality wastes management services to all our customers from a well-equipped facility,” said Mr. Gerhard Aulbert, Director of SWM Sdn. Bhd.

“The opening of this new office building is another great achievement for us as the modern and integrated waste management service provider and it also adds on more value to the significant attributes of the Integrated Solid Wastes Management (ISWMS) introduced and successfully implemented in the State since eight years ago,” Mr. Aulbert concluded.
