Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd. in collaboration with the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) today handed over about 99 units of the 120-litre mobile garbage bins (MGBs) to the residents of Kpg. Tabuan Hilir Zone 10 in a simple ceremony witnessed by the Deputy Mayor of Kuching South, Tuan Hj Mohammed Amin bin Hassan and Trienekens’ Managing Director, Mr. Gerhard Aulbert.

The handover kicked off a 3-month pilot project that will oversee the progressive transition from the use of communal bins system to the usage of individual bins in this area.

In view of the kampung’s physical condition, Trienekens, MBKS and the residents have had various joint discussions to work out the most suitable and effective solution in order to extend the collection services to each household and upgrade the collection system in the area. Prior to this, the residents were already using the communal bin centres.

“With the provisions of the individual bins, residents are able to manage their own wastes individually. Those staying at the inner parts of the kampong, however, which is still inaccessible by our collection truck, will need to wheel out their bins on collection day and collect them back after serviced by the collection team,” said Mr. Gerhard Aulbert.

“So far, the close collaboration from all parties starting from the initial meetings, planning up to the final implementation of this project have been fruitful and residents pledged in their support to the project and willing to play their part in keeping their neighbourhood clean and free from unsightly waste,” he added.

The company reminded the residents to care consistently for their new bins and manage their waste responsibly. They are also advised to adhere to the collection schedule to ensure a smooth collection of their wastes. With the new bins, residents would now be serviced twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays.
