Miri Waste Generators Attend Trienekens Seminar on Scheduled & Hazardous Waste

HANDLE WITH CARE...Trienekens' Business Development Department Head, Mr. Sarius Lee, speaking on the approaches of handling scheduled and hazardous waste.

Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd., the operating company of the Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWMS) in Sarawak, recently organised a special seminar on the management of scheduled and hazardous waste at the Park City Everly Hotel, Miri.

The invited speakers were from the Department of Environment (DoE) Sarawak, Faber Medi-Serve Sdn. Bhd. and Miri City Council.

Themed as “Securing a Clean Environment through Effective Management of Scheduled Waste”, the half day seminar was aimed at increasing environmental awareness amongst the industry players particularly those from the small and medium industries and healthcare providers. It also introduced the fundamental requirements and the available services and facility in dealing with hazardous waste as well as the regulatory requirements set by the relevant authority.

Through the seminar, participants gathered some useful information on the safe management of clinical waste from ‘cradle to grave’. An introduction to e-consignment was also presented by the speaker from DoE whilst MCC spoke on the initiatives and efforts taken by the City Council in maintaining public health and overall cleanliness of the city.

About 70 participants from diverse industries in Miri attended the seminar which included personnels from private clinics and hospitals. This is the second seminar which Trienekens organised after conducting a similar one in Bintulu town earlier this year
