Improved Collection System For Kampung Kuap

Kuching – Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd., the waste management company handling the collection, transportation and disposal of municipal waste in the city today explained that the problems faced Kampung Kuap’s villagers have been under their attention prior to the recent complaints made by the villagers

“The problems faced by Kampung Kuap villagers were already highlighted in our monthly meeting with the relevant local council,” explained Trienekens’ Manager, Mr. Elvin Wee. “We are currently finding ways to improve and even change, the collection system in that area. However, we need to meet up with the local authorities and obtain the kampung’s consent before proceeding with the changing of waste collection system.

Upon investigation weeks earlier, we noted that the bins are insufficient due to the increasing amount of waste generated by the villagers. On the other hand, we also found that the bins were also not being used properly as some of the wastes are being thrown outside of the bins which make it difficult for the workers to collect the refuse as the bin centre is not cemented.

Trienekens will be conducting a site survey together with the local authority to further discuss the relocation of the communal bin centre which is currently not suitable for the kampung. We have opt to exchange the existing bins with a close lid 10 cbm which would contain the smell and provide sufficient volume for the waste generated by Kampung Kuap, immediately after the CNY holidays,” he explained.

“As a continuous effort to improve our services, we need the input and cooperation from the kampung community to dispose of their waste properly. It is important to note that proper usage of the bins is also crucial to ensure that our surrounding remains clean and healthy. We will be speaking to the villagers about the proper way of disposing of their wastes,” Mr. Wee concluded.
