Collection Services Affected by Flood

NACCESSIBLE…Some parts of the shop houses along Jalan Batu Kawa inundated with rising water on Monday
The waste collection services carried out by Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd in several residential areas within the Kuching City were affected by the flood caused by the continuous rain over the past weekend.
According to Trienekens’ Logistics and Services Manager, Mr. Elvin Wee, high water level on Monday cut off road accessibility to the affected area since the rain started last week. “Our waste trucks were not able to enter these areas due to high water level, forcing collection services to be delayed. One third of our workers who live in some of these areas were also stranded and were not able to come to work. We expect operations would resume to normal as soon as the situation improved,” Wee elaborated.
The affected areas included areas under the DBKU were Kpg Tupong Tengah,Kpg Tanjong , Kpg Tupong Batu and along Jln Merdeka, Jln Astana, Kpg Lintang and Sg. Bedil, part of Jln Satok,Jln Kulas,Jln Dagok,Jln Laruh,Jln Parit Lama and Jln Haji Bohassan, Kpg Gita,Tmn Mawar,Tmn Perupok,Pinang Jawa,Kubah Ria, Tmn Aichi and Gita Laut.
In Padawan, the areas affected were Kpg. Giam, Jln Batu Kawa, Tmn Sri Stapok, Tmn Janting,Tmn Sin Yiu, Tmn Lovely Land, Kpg Segedup, Batu Kawa Pasar Lama and Baru, Tmn Inspire Height, Chun Nion, Tmn Boulder Built Jln Stephen Yong, Tmn Heng Guan,Tmn Juta Ria,Flat Bt 6 Matang,Tmn Cresent, Batu 10 until the junction leading to Bt Kawa,Tmn Matang Ria,SMK Matang Hilir,Tmn Gloria,Tmn Malihah,Flat Malihah, Shoplots at Tmn Malihah, Tmn Alamanda, Kpg Sejijak,Kpg Paroh and other residential areas located nearby these areas, Batu Kitang starting from Kpg Bumbok onward until KWB Water Treatment Plant.

Collection in areas still affected by the flood today will be further delayed until the water has receded to a safe level and enabling the collection team to enter and service the area. The company is monitoring present flood situation in the city closely and follow-up collection services in the affected areas will be carried out immediately to replace any delayed services. Meantime, residents in the affected area are advised when possible, to ensure that their bins are kept safely in high area to prevent loss or spillage of rubbish which may also affect their environment or general health.
